David Cameron is to become Connect's new chairman

David Cameron, who founded Connect over a decade ago, is to become our chairman. He is passing on the managing director role to Alan Ramsay, his long time deputy.

David has steered Connect from a standing start to become Scotland's largest contract publishing company, and one of the leading companies in the sector in the UK.

A series of recent magazine launches has underpinned the strength of our position, and convinced David that he is in a position to step back from the day-to-day running of the company.

David said: "Our moves over the last few years to develop our electronic publishing offerings and expand our portfolio beyond Scotland have been very successful, despite the tough marketplace we find ourselves in.

"The 34-strong team we have here is ideally placed to continue the evolution and growth of Connect."

David will continue to be heavily involved, concentrating on strategic and business development. As owner, he will also have a strong involvement in strategic decisions.

Alan has worked beside David since the company was formed in 1999. His experience and attention to detail will be crucial to our continuing success. He said: "I'm honoured to be taking up the position of managing director.

"I'm convinced the fantastic team we have will be able to build on the great work David has done since he formed Connect."

A number of other changes to the management structure have also been made as a result of David's move.

In addition, Penny Murray joins the company full time in an editorial production role after a period of more than 12 months where she had been providing freelance support on the tabloid newspapers Connect publishes. She was previously at the Sunday Herald.
