Plunging into ice water, wading through thick mud and scaling walls isn’t normally in a day’s work for our head of design Renny Hutchison, but on Saturday he did all this and much more for a good cause.
He braved the annual Tough Mudder event in the grounds of Drumlanrig Castle in a fifteen-strong team to raise money for the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre – £1,700 thus far and counting.
Enduring the 10 mile course of obstacles that test your strength, stamina and bravery wasn’t quite enough for Renny, so he decided to get on his bike at 5am to cycle to the starting line to meet his team mates 50 miles away.
“It was a great experience. You’re working in a team, helping others, and being helped. There is something about this camaraderie that gives you a great sense of wellbeing – that all is right in the world. It’s also sobering to see so many people fighting their own battles for good causes.”]]>
