Broadcaster and comedian Fred MacAulay has been confirmed as host of our 2019 Scottish Dental Awards.

The awards will be held on Friday 26 April at Glasgow’s five-star Hilton Hotel and come at the end of the first day of our award-winning Scottish Dental Show, which is held at the nearby Braehead Arena.

“Fred is one of the country’s best known and well-loved comedians, and is a consummate professional when it comes hosting awards ceremonies. We’ve had the privilege of seeing him host other awards, and he’s engaging and extremely funny. We’re absolutely delighted he’s hosting our event,” said Alan Ramsay, Connect’s managing director.

Connect started publishing Scottish Dental magazine in 2010 and the show followed in 2012. The first ever awards ceremony was a low key affair held at Hampden Park but has since grown to be the premier awards in the Scottish dental profession. More than 450 people attended the 2018 awards, also held at the Hilton.

The Scottish Dental Show has grown in stature and in 2018 more than 2000 visitors attended the two-day event at Braehead, with over 130 exhibitors on show and up to 11 hours of CPD available through a comprehensive education programme.

Next year’s show takes place on 26 and 27 April and registration will open on 1 October 2018. More than 60 per cent of exhibition stands are already booked for 2019 and the education programme will again offer significant CPD opportunities.
