Star showing at Fringe earns Connect an encore

Connect’s five-star performance in generating sales and sponsorship for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe programme has helped the publication recruit some big-name commercial partners.

Now, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society has confirmed there will be an encore – with Connect invited to take on the same task in 2020.

Earlier this year, the company was asked to help maximise the marketing potential of the programme, which reaches a highly valued audience. Over the past few months, Connect’s commercial team has implemented a successful plan that’s brought on board a number of prestigious partners.

Significantly, the Fringe is the greatest platform for creative freedom in the world and at the centre of a global movement of over 200 fringe festivals, each inspired by Edinburgh’s example.

Fringe audiences are encouraged to take risks and try something new. The Fringe is a place to discover hidden gems, new genres, unusual spaces and the next big thing.

The Fringe has been described as one of the 20th century’s greatest innovations, a precursor to social media in providing a platform for anyone who wanted their voice to be heard. And it continues to grow and evolve, embracing new technologies, audiences and ideas.

Connect managing director Alan Ramsay said: “The Fringe is part of the world’s biggest arts festival and as such it has significant commercial appeal. We’re delighted that we’ve been able to help the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society enhance the effectiveness of the programme, and we’re honoured that we’ve been asked to build on that success next year.”

Oliver Davies, Head of Marketing and Development at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, added: “We’re delighted to continue working with Connect to secure vital income that supports our charitable activities, from supporting artists and audiences to promoting the Fringe and what it stands for all over the world.”
