Celebrating Burns Night with the Spirit of the Quaich
The students, past recipients of the Keepers of the Quaich scholarship to study traditional music, gathered at Blair Castle in Perthshire, and accompanied by Scottish band Ceol Alba, recorded Spirit of the Quaich.
Neil Braidwood, our Creative and Publishing Manager, designed the CD package, which takes the form of a hardback booklet, using commissioned photography from Shannon Tofts.
“I’ve designed CD covers before, but this was a challenge, as there was more than one artist involved. The booklet idea allowed us to showcase each scholar, and Shannon’s black and white photography was the starting point for the mainly monochrome design,” Neil explained.
Director of Keepers of the Quaich Annabel Meikle said: “The banquets are the highlight of our year as we induct new members from all over the world into our Society and celebrate their outstanding contribution to Scotch whisky. The performances of these young, talented musicians have contributed immensely to the special atmosphere of the evening and we wanted to be able to capture that memory for our members and supporters in the future.
“Connect helped us through this whole project, from concept to fulfilment. The CD fits perfectly with our corporate image, and it is a superb showcase of the students’ exceptional talent.”
The CDs will be mailed globally to more than 2,000 Keepers in advance of Burns Night on 25 January.
