In-person to online: conferences go virtual
Connect is very excited to be transforming a three-day conference into a significant online event for our client, the Chartered Society for Worker Health Protection (BOHS).
Originally planned as an in-person event in Bristol, we have worked hard with the team at BOHS and with over 30 speakers to translate the industry insight into a digital format.
Connect has been helping several of its clients continue to engage with their members and target audiences throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, including through podcasts, digital magazines and virtual conferences for the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management and the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
From videos to podcasts, live presentations and panel discussions, to interactive chat at every stage, BOHS’ new online OH2020 conference has generated a lot of interest and excitement in the industry.
The team at Connect, led by Senior Communications Consultant Kim McAllister, has advised speakers on the best format for their presentations, provided demos of the webinar software and its features and – as always – managed all the design requirements, from programmes and logos to video and podcast editing.
BOHS events manager Marie Townshend said: “I’ve organised the BOHS conference for the past four years but this year is a big change. Connect has been really helpful, I feel confident that OH2020 is going to be really engaging and a big success. Working with David, Kim and the team has been a lot of fun – they’ve taken a huge weight off my shoulders!”
Kim added that it had been a great experience turning the event into something more akin to a television show. “At first the presenters were wary of changing to the online format, but once we explained all the added features and reassured them about the level of technical support we would provide, they’ve all been really excited,” she said.
“We’ve even had some ask for demos for their own organisations. There’s no doubt digital formats are going to be the norm for the foreseeable future and we’re confident that Connect can meet this demand.”
