Connecting and reflecting this Christmas

It’s no secret that this year has been filled with ups and downs, but we want to take a moment to reflect on all the good that has happened this year.

In January we welcomed our newest teammate and senior communications consultant Kim McAllister. A freelance BBC radio broadcaster and business journalist, Kim brought with her a wealth of knowledge and experience, which enabled us to expand our own communications capabilities.

We have also been fortunate enough to not only continue working with many of our existing clients, but also to have welcomed many more, including the likes of Baxters and Yoga Scotland.

Communications had to adapt this year, and us with it, and we have worked hard to help all our clients rise to the challenge.

This year, we began offering podcast services, working on some exciting projects for clients such as Arran Sense of Scotland and the University of Edinburgh’s Edinburgh: Space Data Capital podcast.

In a year where we had to stay apart we helped bring people together, by helping to host many online digital conferences such as for the British Occupational Health Society’s, and the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors

We also helped our friends at SELECT produce their first ever digital annual report and animations to enable them to communicate with members during the pandemic.

2020 also saw the launch of the Womankind page for our client Scottish Women’s Institute, a Facebook page designed to keep SWI members connected when their meetings could no longer go ahead. This even involved a virtual presidential handover event which proved very successful and appreciated by all who attended.

Within our own business, we have had many professional achievements to celebrate too. This year, we celebrated 10 years of Scottish Dental magazine, and Peter Nicholson celebrated 200 issues as Editor of the Law Society of Scotland’s Journal magazine.

There is so much more we could mention. Let us finish with a big thank you to our clients and to our own team. People make a business, and despite an extraordinary year, we feel proud of the work we’ve delivered for our clients and we’ve had some brilliant feedback, including this:

“The creativity, brilliant content and responsive teamwork is much appreciated.  You’re a pleasure to work with.”

From all of us at Connect, we wish you all a very merry, very safe Christmas and a happy new year!
